Which game to play
I would send a new player to ACM2’s Safe Edition or to Steam ACM2. ACM1 is the older, larger Steam review pile. ACM3 is the unfinished one.

The differences that matter
ACM1: shipped, $9.99, 60 achievements, public itch build behind 1.4.00. ACM2: shipped, discounted to $4.89, 128 achievements, free itch Deluxe, adult DLC separate. ACM3: itch only, no Steam price, demo not yet due.
What did not change
Typing a cup is still the verb. Steam is still Windows-only for all three. Godot is still the engine I will name.
Questions
Is ACM2 a sequel story?
The developer does not give you a plot to finish. Treat it as the next version of the toy, with its own words.
Can I skip ACM1?
Yes. Nothing I read requires a cleared ACM1 save.
